The reconstruction process requires specifying two disk extents:
If the first sector of extent 1 is incorrectly specified (for example, as sector 0), data can still be recovered because File Scavenger® can detect and compensate for this error. If the last sector of extent 1 or the first sector of extent 2 is incorrect, all sectors on disk 2 will have incorrect offsets and only data on disk 1 will be recovered. The last sector of disk 2 can be incorrect without much effect on the recovery. The accurate size of a disk can be determined by the following:
