After write-protecting the subject drive, you can optionally choose to create a disk image of the drive as a backup. This will help in case the drive fails or becomes further degraded. This operation will require a new drive larger than the subject drive and may take many hours to complete. See “ Disk Image File ” in Chapter 7 for more information. Step 2: Install File Scavenger®You can follow any installation procedure in “Chapter 5: Installing File Scavenger®” as long as File Scavenger® is not installed on the subject drive.
