Step 6: Validate Recovered Data

Sometimes files are recovered with the correct size and filename but are unusable because the contents are corrupt. If that is caused by actual corruption on the drive, nothing can be done. However, the optimal recovery procedure may not have been followed.

Before reusing the subject drive, make sure all data has been recovered. Validate recovered files by opening them in their respective programs. Keep the subject drive for a few weeks just in case it is needed again for recovery.
