"Invalid License Code" error
The most common causes for this error are:
A Personal Use license code has been bought for computer A and is now used on computer B.
Unlike the Professional Use (roaming) license, a Personal Use license is only for one computer.
If computer A is used mainly for testing the software and actual use is intended on computer B, please
remove the software from computer A and click here to get
a matching license code for the File Scavenger® serial number displayed on computer B. If you intend to use
File Scavenger® on both computers, please buy a second Personal Use license or upgrade to the Professional
Use license. We appreciate your honesty

The software is used on the same computer but the serial number has changed and the license code no longer matches it.
This may happen if the license code was bought at the time the computer had an active network and/or Internet connection
but it now has no active network connections. To resolve this, you can activate the network and/or Internet
connection. Or you can click
here to get a license code for the non-network configuration. File Scavenger®
version 3 or later can remember multiple license codes. To display the version, choose the About command on the
Help menu.

Personal Use vs Professional Use license
A Personal Use is a single computer license with the option to transfer to a second computer if
The original computer is intended for testing only and actual use is on the second computer.
The original computer is retired and replaced by the second computer.
A Personal Use licensee receives a computer specific license code to unlock File Scavenger® on the computer from which the
File Scavenger® serial number was obtained to purchase the software.
A Professional Use license is a single-user roaming license. The user whose name is registered at the time of purchase
can use the software on any computer. This license also entitles you to priority support when there is contention for technical
support resources. A Professional Use licensee receives a license file that can unlock the software on any
computer. The licensee's name is displayed in the File Scavenger® window.
Upgrading from Personal Use to Professional Use license
The cost of upgrading is the cost of a Professional Use license less that of a Personal Use license. In other words,
when upgrading, you get full credit for what you already paid. Simply buy a Professional Use license and send us an
email requesting full credit for the Personal Use license purchase. Attach both email receipts if possible.
