Chapter 7: Using Other File Scavenger® Features

Generate a new unique filename

With this option, the recovered filename will be appended with a unique number suffix if the original filename already exists. This choice guarantees all files will be recovered at the expense of having to sift through all the files.

Overwrite

Always overwrite any existing filename in the destination folder. This choice is of limited use because it may produce unpredictable results. When recovering two or more files of the same filename and folder path, only the last recovered file is kept. Being last is a function of the position of the files in the File Scavenger® display, which can be arranged in many ways, such as by date, size, volume, etc.

Skip

Never overwrite an existing file. Similar to Overwrite, this option is of limited use because only the first file is recovered.
