Volume AffiliationIn almost all cases, you do not need to use this option. File Scavenger® usually can determine with certainty which volume a file belongs to. This option is necessary only for volumes or partitions that been severely corrupted after being resized, relocated, deleted, etc. To avoid repetition, the term “volume” is used in place of “partition or volume”. Technically, a drive letter (such as drive C) is called a partition on a basic disk or a volume on a dynamic disk. Files and their volume affiliationThe Volume column displays what File Scavenger® determines as the volume to which a file belongs to. The corresponding drive letter is displayed if it is available. If a volume is defunct or has no drive letter, File Scavenger® will assign to the volume a sequential volume number, which is the order the volume is detected by File Scavenger®. This number has no other meaning. |
